Oh, and I should probably mention that I emailed Denon with my initial problems shortly after purchase, and a month later got an auto-generated response saying to read the FAQ.From the HEOS App, select Music, Settings, Music Sources, Online Music, TIDAL. Then after repeating that several times with each of them they eventually decided to stay connected without the wire.ĭoes anyone actually have a positive experience with HEOS software? If the only way I can connect is through the Spotify app then I may as well have just bought bluetooth adapters for my speakers. They both detected my WiFi network, then timed out trying to connect, so I had to connect via a wired connection to update the Wifi information. When I first bought the two Links, neither of them were able to connect using the built-in WiFi connection. The solution to this is to just try again 3 or 4 times and eventually it works. When I try to use the app to play Soundcloud through a device, even though I'm connected to my soundcloud account and can use the HEOS app to browse my SC playlists, when I actually hit play it sits for a minute before saying it can't connect to SC.So even though I can connect through Spotify, the app is unable to find them? It's WiFi, not exactly new technology, and your app can't find a device on the LAN? The solution to this is usually just to wait a few hours and magically they'll be back even though nothing changed. Most of the time when I open the app, it sits at "detecting devices" and doesn't find any.Like everything else, the result is subject to how HEOS is feeling at that particular moment. When I attempt to group speakers, I get a generic "The rooms could not be grouped" error. However, anything requiring the app almost never works: The HEOS Link is a preamplifier specifically compatible with the HEOS system that can be connected to any existing stereo / home theater receiver or speaker. Another way to use HEOS is with HEOS Link. All 3 are connected just fine to WiFi, because I can connect to them with Spotify Connect most of the time. The HEOS application can also stream music directly to the receiver, so you can listen to music through your home theater system. I have one HEOS-enabled receiver (Marantz 6014), and two HEOS Links. The only HEOS feature that is reliable more than 50% of the time is Spotify Connect, which is probably just because it uses Spotify software instead of the completely useless HEOS app. They sell expensive hardware with almost completely useless software. Beyond frustrated with HEOS, and from reading other posts on this sub it's essentially the same issues everyone else has. ![]()
